Our photo gallery of the sensational live music we caught across Newcastle over the last weekend. We kicked off last Thursday night at Lizotte’s with Newcastle musician and globe-trotting TV presenter Nick Saxon. For a cool two-hour show, full of stories and tunes Nick has written during his travels, a fantastic, intimate show.
Friday night was a cracker and all Newcastle locals, first up Mark Wells and his big band (Dave Carter, Robbie Long, Justin Ngariki, Jasosn Bone, Matt Guadry and Brian Daly) at The Factory Theatre, Adamstown. The 500-strong crowd was rocking, this was without a doubt the best gig we’ve caught this year, and we are still on a buzz from this one days later. We finished off our Friday night at The Cambridge with a killer set from Country Rockers The Viper Creek Band, who put on one of their powerhouse live shows.
Saturday, it was dinner at the Stag & Hunter and an Alt Country set from Melbourne’s Cat Canteri band, best known as the singer/drummer for highly acclaimed alt country band, The Stillsons. Cat is most definitely a talent in her own right, it was a great show, and her new single ‘Havenโt Been Alive’ from her debut album, ‘When We Were Young’ is a cracker. Check that and other tracks out at www.catcanteri.com . Then it was a quick trip to The Cambridge for a massive night with Dead Letter Circus rocking the house. Locals Monrobot and Let The Number be X opened the night for DLC with two big sets that had the crowd well and truly pumped for the headliners.
We finished off our weekend in a big way, back to the Cambridge for U.S.A’s Against Me and Joyce Manor, big crowd and world-class Rock!, locals Yours Alone kicked the night off with a powerful class act, that set the foundations for what was a top night off live music.
This and so much more happens each and every weekend in this great city of ours, so get on to Newcastle Live’s gig guide and plan your next weekend of live music…..
