PUB FEED: Heading back to your local for a time-honoured tradition

One of the things we missed most when all of our favourite venues were closed down during the Coronavirus restrictions was a good pub feed. And we know you missed it too.

The good news is that your local is back serving up the goods.

Sure, there are still restrictions in place, you may have to wait a little longer and you’re best to make a booking for your pub feed gang, but your local hotel is in need of your custom more than ever before. So this week, we’re encouraging you to pull up a seat and revive your pub feed tradition.

Below you’ll find just 5 places we think are serving up some of the best pub feeds in town. But this is just a start. Hit us on Facebook and let us know where your favourite post COVID shutdown pub feed can be found.

Wickham Park Hotel

You had us at $12 lunch specials, but we stayed for what was on the menu. From the old faithful Bangers & Mash to the more adventurous Lambs Fry & Bacon. Lunch at The Wicko is the perfect way to get back into pub feed the saddle.

ADDRESS: 61 Maitland Rd, Islington NSW 2296

The Greenroof Hotel

Ron & Raf have taken over the kitchen at The Greenroof Hotel and they’re defiantly serving up the goods. Burgers, schnitzels, pasta and more… The new menu is stacked and ready to fulfil your pub feed desires.

ADDRESS: 71 Tudor St, Hamilton NSW 2303

The Lucky Hotel

The Lucky is back open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday and it’s got the goods. Our tip is to head straight to the Carne Asada. This monster features smoked flank steak, chimichurri, grilled onions, capsicum, smoked eggplant, guacamole, flour tortillas, fresh lime and fried jalapeños. Wash that down with a beer and you’re in good hands.

ADDRESS: 237 Hunter St, Newcastle NSW 2300

The Premier Hotel

One of the things we’ve missed the most is a good pub steak. Well, Thursday night at The Premier is Steak Night!. 250 grams of steak cooked just the way you like it served with chips, salad and sauce for $16.50.

ADDRESS: 1 Brunker Rd, Broadmeadow NSW 2292

The Great Northern

All the pub classics are here. Parmigiana, steak, schnitzel and there’s a buttermilk chicken burger that really hits the spot. Our tip is to book in for the Sunday Roast. Kids eat free for lunch and you can stick around for a few drinks and live music from 4pm.

ADDRESS: 83-89 Scott St, Newcastle NSW 2300
