NEWIE FOODIES: Make it Middle Eastern this weekend

Tabouli, tahini, Turkish pide, and kebabs. These are just some of the Middle Eastern flavour sensations which can take your taste buds on a much-needed holiday.

From the first Persian Empire, dating way back to 550–330 BC, the foundation for Middle Eastern cuisine was laid. Fortunately, in 2020 Newcastle you don’t have to travel too far to savour some fresh and expertly spiced treats.

We’ve narrowed down your suggestions – taken from our Around the World with Newy Takeaways poll results – and put together a collection of the spectacular Middle Eastern-inspired food spots that are dotted throughout Newcastle.

Some of these venues we have frequented many, many times. Mostly after midnight following a few drinks with mates. Others, we were inspired to sample for the very first time.

We hope that you enjoy them too.
