The Newcastle Fringe Festival will make its triumphant return this March.
Celebrating diverse artistic expressions, this year’s event promises an incredible lineup boasting a staggering 50% increase in acts from last year.
This year’s Fringe will feature 451 artists across 220-plus shows at 15 iconic venues in Hamilton, Newcastle, Adamstown, and Merewether.
The primary festival hub, Hamilton, will once again pulse with creativity and energy. Thanks to the support of the Hamilton Business Association, multiple venues, including the iconic Young People’s Theatre, will host performances and roving street performers.
“The 2024 program has exploded beyond our expectations. This is one fringe you do not want to miss,” Newcastle Fringe Chair, Brooke Twyford said.
Festival-goers can anticipate a wide range of performances, including laugh-out-loud comedy, immersive dance and theatre experiences, cabaret, burlesque treats, engaging kids’ shows, and the return of the popular Choir Day.
One of the most anticipated free events of the festival will undoubtedly be Fringe@Park After Dark, a spectacular to held in Gregson Park.
Since its inception, the Newcastle Fringe Festival has become a significant cultural event in the region.
In 2023, over $80,000 went directly into the pockets of performers, emphasizing the festival’s commitment to fostering a thriving regional arts scene.
The 2024 Newcastle Fringe Festival will take over the city from March 14 to 24 with a massive 10-day program. Tickets are on sale now. To find out more visit newcastlefringe.com.au
