Newcastle Food Month is locked in for April 2024

Newcastle Food Month will return for its 4th edition in April 2024. The month-long program of foodie events will kick off on the weekend of Easter 2024 and run through the school holidays into the weekend surrounding Anzac Day.

The city’s flourishing food scene will once again take the spotlight with a diverse and delectable program offering an array of events catering to every palate. There’ll also be plenty of of libations with wine and beer tastings to gin, whisky, cocktails, and some live music thrown in for good measure too.

Renowned dining establishments are stepping up to the plate, with big names like the Roundhouse at Crystalbrook Kingsley, The Flotilla, Vecina, Humbug, Harrisons, Jana, The Elementa, Foghorn Brewery, and Modus crafting unique events that showcase their culinary prowess.

Emerging neighbourhood gems are also joining the culinary fiesta that is Newcastle Food Month, eager to flaunt the evolution of suburban dining in Newcastle.

“It’s exciting to see so many early entries into the program, and we are well ahead of where we have been in previous years in planning. There is already something for everyone who likes eating out, and on any budget,” Event Organiser Louise Maher said.

“Over the past three years, we have enticed thousands of Novocastrians to dine out in our fabulous restaurants, and this will continue. Last year more than 80 businesses were involved in Newcastle Food Month and that’s a stat we are really proud of, keeping our economy focussed on the great hospitality the region is known for.

“We are also committed to expanding our marketing and promotion into the Central Coast and Sydney to draw an increasing number of overnight visitors. In years to come we will turn our attention to the likes of Melbourne and Brisbane, to take advantage of our connections through Newcastle Airport.”

The much-loved foodie festival will bring back the world-famous posh pop-up picnic, Le Diner En Blanc Newcastle, on 6 April with more than 1,000 guests expected to frock up for the event held in a secret location around Newcastle.

Plate Date is also set to return, offering a fantastic opportunity to explore Newcastle’s eclectic cafes, restaurants, and pubs with a brunch, lunch, or dinner, including a beverage, priced at only $30. Get ready to indulge, savour, and celebrate the culinary richness of Newcastle throughout this delectable month!
