One of the most exciting local bands on the scene right now would have to be Throw Me To The Wolves. Their teenage indie pop rock songs have been played on national radio station Triple J and everyone from KLP to Richard Kingsmill has left positive reviews their Unearthed page.  Now national fashion label, Sportsgirl has used the band’s song, In Wonderland in their new TV commercial.

With members of the band attending five different high schools, itโ€™s a wonder they find time to write and record anything. But we were blown away with the quality of what we heard when the band, who all met at Rosies School Of Rock, uploaded their first two songs late last year.

Their first single, โ€™In Wonderland’ was picked up by triple J Unearthed in January 2015 and later played on Triple J. Now, over six months later, the single has been used in a new Sportsgirl promotion.

This is a real success story for the local scene, that in our opinion has been going from strength to strength over the last two to three years. So we;re encouraging everyone in the Newcastle Live community to get behind this band by liking their Facebook page, leaving a review on their Unearthed tracks and getting into their awesome new single, ‘The Elliot Effectโ€™.

The band are inspired by acts like San Cisco, The Delta Riggs and Sticky Fingers, but they also bring something a little retro and interesting to that sort of sound.

You can catch the band playing Youth Rockinโ€™ The Black Dog tonight (Wednesday September 16). Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased on the night.
