While the gig landscape may be a barren featureless desert of late, that certainly hasn’t stopped bands dropping new tunes.

And, good news metalheads! Newly minted Newcastle metal outfit Where The Devil have just released their debut single and it’s an absolute ripper.

The aptly titled Beast is an unmitigated headbanger, revelling in a breakneck speed Pantera-esque groove. It will grab you by the throat from the get-go refusing to let go for its 5+ minute runtime save for some tasty melodic pre-chorus breaks.

It’s evident from first listen that these guys know their way around a tune and have an intrinsic understanding of the heavier side of the musical spectrum and looking at the talent that makes up Where The Devil, it’s not hard to see why.

The band is fronted by former Undermine vocalist Ben Pennifold whose uncompromising delivery could best be described as vitriol incarnate.

The face-melting riffs are provided by Kim Abbott (Zombonimo) and Ben Hosking (ex Tractor and Shank’d) while the tighter than a tourniquet rhythm section is rounded out by Rachel McGuire (ex-Twin Psyche and Undermine) on bass and Rob Carstein (ex Tractor and Jadickรก) on drums.

Where the Devil was supposed yo unleash themselves onto the public with a show at the Hamilton Station Hotel on April 3 however the world had other ideas.

Undeterred, the band are pushing ahead with plans to drop a clip for Beast next month as well as a live-streamed gig so keep an eye on their Facebook for updates.

In the meantime, you can also find Beast on all the usual streaming channels.
