Newcastle via Sydney punk rock and rollers Mucho Sonar are not above championing the proliferation of live music venues in OZ.
And that’s the theme of their blistering new single, the aptly titled Bring Back The Venue.
The track is a big riffing horn fest that recalls the likes of Rocket From The Crypt or even a souped-up Saints and travels along at breakneck speed from go to woah thanks to some face-melting riffs from lead guitarist Mo Mayhem and vicious horn lines from Rob Parkes.
The whole shebang is underpinned by some throat-vibrating drumming from ‘Chunk’ Williams and uncompromising vocal delivery from Ben Holland.

“An ode to the continuing great live music venues in this country and a lament to the loss of many others,” the band said, describing the track.
“The Venue is a place for community and is the lifeblood of Australian music. It gives misfits a place to call home and is where every single band you love, cut their teeth.”
And to that, we say “right on!”
The accompanying clip featuring the band ripping through the track in no-nonsense style while also enjoying a schooey or two in the Hamilton Station Hotel beer garden was produced by Newcastle visual media outfit Little Ruby.
The track is the second single from their recently released six-track EP Murdochracy which you can, and most definitely should check out here.
Featuring current and former members of such bands as Chinchen, Hell City Glamours, No Reason, Wiseheimer, and Dropsaw, Mucho Sonar have released a self-titled EP and their 2018 long-player Rodents.
