New kids on the block, Neighbours on Market St has done all the right stuff since opening their doors last month. And it’s not just thebreakfast cocktail menu that has local foodies doing their best Donnie Wahlberg moves to grab a table.
A cafe by day and restaurant by night,Neighbours on Market St has drawn on the history of their location in the heart of Newcastle to create a rustic yet sophisticated atmosphere that captures the essence of old-world Newcastle. It’s an amazing space they’ve created, but beauty isn’t just skin deep for our new friend.
The menu is inspired by some amazing produce with a local appetite in mind.
Did someone say breakfast cocktails?
The breakfast menu is jam-packed with absolute goodness, and it all starts with their coffee. Neighbours are serving up Ona Coffee, founded by world champion Barista Sasha Sestic, whichowners Jordan Mizrahi & Alicen Lewis have chosen for its broad range of flavour profiles and blends
Morning sweet tooths should be head straight for the ricotta hotcakes and big brekkie lovers will be more than satisfied when the Full Newy is placed on the table in front of them
But you won’t just be coming for the food because these kids have turned up the volume on the most important meal of the day with a breakfast cocktail menu.
Yes, you heard us right, breakfast cocktails! Neighbours are serving up a delicious range of cocktails at breakfast, brunch and lunch – And we are here for it!
And late risers take note… There is an extensive all-day breakfast menu on offer here that will cure any ill produced the night before.
There’s a lot to love about our new neighbours
The lunch menu has something for everyone, boasting everything from a middle eastern plate to their signature chicken schnitzel sandwich.
The charcoal oven, imported from Spain, is bringing its smokey goodness to the party, leaving just a lick of smoke in all the right places. And Neighbours have used this fabulous oven to their advantage in the lunch menu so that even the humble wrap is pimped up with smokey wood-fired fillings.
When lunch turns to dinner, Neighbours cohesively integrates with their sister business Basement on Market street. Each business still its own identity and yet they complement each other perfectly. It’s hard to explain, but it just works.
A local and international wine list rounds out the offerings, with an emphasis on showcasing Hunter wines. We’re not sommeliers, but choosing a wine to go with dinner was an absolute breeze.
