10 years ago, Jess, Alice, Blair and Frankie (Johansson, Bell, Kravitz and Glazer respectively) were best friends at college. Since college, life has taken the ladies on very different paths but for Jess’ hen’s party weekend, they have reunited for one last amazing party before she walks down the aisle.

Through into the mix Jess’ Australian friend Pippa (McKinnon) and you have a wild mix of women.

And, as they say, hilarity ensued …

Now as an Aussie reviewer, I feel it is my duty to address the Aussie accent issue right off the bat….. does McKinnon do a good Aussie accent? Ummmm do they ever *insert eye roll here* I don’t understand why it’s such a tough accent to master. I mean, I do a great Aussie accent. But it is and the only decent one I have heard was Dev Patel in Lion.

Anyway back to the review at hand….

These girls have been friends for a decade and their connection is genuine and comes complete with inside jokes, nuances and memories.  They trust each other, they party hard and it is their enduring friendship that grounds them all.

As with many enduring friendships, it also comes complete with a somewhat complicated history together and along with all the partying and drinking, this weekend getaway brings a lot of those issues to the surface.

These 5 leading ladies are at the top of their game. Johansson has been a star for a very long time, Kravitz is starting to make a serious name for herself and the other 3 have come up through the comedy circuit. As a side note, Glazer is the star of one of the best comedy shows ever, Broad City. If you have not seen it, run NOW and binge watch it all. Oh you are very welcome J

This movie is a chick flick du jour! It is hilarious and bawdy and just great fun. It pushes the envelope juuuuust a little but it never goes too far. I loved it and if you are after a fun night out with the girls, this is the one for you.

3 1/2 stars
