MOVIE REVIEW: Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle

Is it as good as the first? Of course, it isn’t but Johnson, yet again, has some fun with his smouldering intensity and at no point does he ever take himself too seriously. Well none of the characters do which is, perhaps, what saves it from being yet another dull, lifeless remake.

Who is in it: Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Madison Iseman, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Rhys Darby, Bobby Cannavale, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain

What is it: a re-make of the 1995 movie starring our beloved Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst. But this new movie has a twist in that once the kids enter the game, they turn into completely different people and are each assigned a different game character. Thus we have very adult characters playing teenagers playing their assigned game roles. To be fair, it plays better on the screen than it sounds on paper. To escape the game, they must play the game and complete the task. Easy peasy, right?

Why should I watch it: It’s fun and it won’t tax too many brain cells. The kids will love it although there is a little bit of adult content as one of the teen girls is a male character in the game and is a little obsessed with her new appendage. As you would be 😉
