MUMS ROCK: A Mother’s Day in Hamilton turned up to eleven!

Is your Mum sick of the usual Mother’s tropes? Slippers, supermarket flowers and the box of Cadbury favourites? Then you need to spend Mother’s Day in Hamilton… It’s rocking.

Here’s our guide to turning up your Mother’s Day to eleven in Hamilton.

Little cupcakes and triangle sandwiches are fine and all, but what about Mums who’d prefer something with a little more substance? Well, here are our tips for rocking your Mother’s Day lunch and dinner.

Mum’s get a Margarita on arrival! Do we need to say anymore? And for just $32 per person you can grab a Mothers Day share board featuring a selection of Meantime’s brand new share dishes, Bruschetta, Field Mushroom Arancini, Salt and Pepper squid and Goats Cheese Tartlet. Finish off with another cocktail and a slice of Biscoff Cheesecake or plate of Churros and you’ll be in the good books for the rest of the year.

Where: Head into Meantime at 104 Beaumont Street or book online at

If your Mum has been craving the sort of food you only get from a trip to the Middle East, then we’ve got you covered. And you won’t even need to book an airline ticket. Lebanese BBQ, salads, flame-grilled meats, vegetarian deliciousness… It’s all here. And whatever you order make sure it includes Falafel and Hommous – trust us.

Where: You can find Downtown Beruit at 25 Beaumont Street or visit them online at

There’s something really satisfying about sitting down in a pub with a schooner, or a cheeky midday cocktail, in your hand and smashing out a pub lunch. And given Hamilton is home to so many awesome pubs, you’d be mad to go anywhere else with a Mum looking for the fulfilment that only a schnitty, burger or blackboard special can bring.

Where: Take your pick or check out our guide to pubs in Hamilton.

You don’t have to buy the same old gifts every year for Mum. A little bit of digging, especially in a place like Hamilton and you’ll find all sorts of things that will make you think twice about buying another dressing gown.

First established in 1969, Rices Bookshop is the place to go if you’re looking for something special and affordable for Mum that won’t end up in a landfill. Need some advice on what to buy? Well, the staff at Rices have extensive knowledge and appreciation of all kinds of books and records and are more than happy to point you in the right direction.

Where: You can find Rices Bookshop at 96 Beaumont Street or hit up their website.

Does your Mum love things like crystals, salt lamps, singing bowls and tarot cards? Then inspirational gifts for the mind, body and spirit await you at Rainbow Runner in Hamilton. You can even book Mum in for readings or healings to enjoy on the big day or purchase a gift card so she can book in whenever she likes.

Where: Rainbow Runner is located at 94A Beaumont Street or you can shop with them online.

Ice cream, lollies and milkshakes… What’s not to love about Jims. And if your Mum hasn’t tried one of their famous Blue Heaven milkshakes then that’s worth a trip to Hamilton alone! You can also shop for unique sweet treats and hard to find lollies or pick something out of the fudge cabinet to take home – but make sure it’s salted caramel, cause that’s the best one.

Where: Drop into Jim’s at 79 Tudor Street or get your mouth watering by visiting their Facebook page.

This post is all about rocking your Mother’s Day and it’s hard to do that without some live music on the list. Here are a couple of gigs we think will help you turn it up to eleven on the big day.

The Gal is a great backdrop for a bit of a Sunday afternoon boodie on the D-Floor with Mum. The live music kicks off at 3 pm and the drinks are a price point that you can kick back all afternoon!

Where: Just up the road from the Hamilton train station at 3/5 Beaumont Street.

Say no service station flowers and rock on with your Mum and Joeys Coop at the Hamilton Station Hotel instead. Armed with tracks from the Lachlan Valley Dirt release this is sure to be a great gig. Plus the Hammo has arguably the best beer garden in the city!

Where: Rock on at 2/6 Beaumont street. Visit the Hamilton Station Hotel’s website for more info.
