They are the affable mates who took out top honours in the 2019 iteration of the hit Channel Seven reality show My Kitchen Rules.
And Matt Gawthorp and Luke Stewart will be bringing what they learned in Kitchen HQ to Port Stephens as part of the annual Love Seafood Festival.
The boys will be taking over the kitchen at Eviva Cafe and Bar in Nelson Bay this Saturday night for a Signature Series dinner to remember.
Matt and Luke will serve up a sumptuous four-course dinner with matched wines and they couldn’t be more excited.
“It’s going to be great to get our hands on some top-quality local produce and brilliant Port Stephens seafood – it’s going to be a great night,” Matt told Newcastle Live.
While not wanting to give too much away about what to expect on the night, Matt did let slip that MKR fans would be well taken care of.
“One of the dishes we will be serving is one that we plated up on the show and it’s definitely one of our favourites,” he said.
“We feel like we have kind of perfected it so we’re keen to give it a red hot crack.”
So, what is more nerve-wracking? Facing off against Ibby and Romel in the MKR grand final or preparing a four-course meal for a room full of hungry diners?
“Well the time pressure is not there as much and you don’t have producers breathing down your neck all the time but on the same token these are all paying customers so the need to impress is just as strong.”
Matt and Luke will hot Eviva Cafe and Bar (14 Stockton St, Nelson Bay) on Saturday 17 August, Get your tickets here.
Matt and Luke’s signature Series dinner is but a mere morsel of what you can experience at the month-long Love Seafood festival which is on until September 1. Head here for more info.
