The next single from Melody Pool’s forthcoming long player is set for release on 1 August.

Changing, the new single, will be the second track we’ll get to hear from the new album which is scheduled to drop in July.

“Changing, to me, is about finding a way to make the heavy stuff worth it, allowing it to change you. And allowing the darkest parts of yourself their time in the light so you can hear their needs and shift them into a healthier space in your life.” Melody said on the new single.

“The verses came from another song Iโ€™d written with a different chorus that I liked but didnโ€™t love. The chorus was from a totally different song and wasnโ€™t completely finished until my partner and producer/collaborator Christopher Dale said to me, Youโ€™re a spiritual person, and a massive Leonard Cohen fanโ€ฆ maybe instead of trying to write it about a person or story, you should take a leaf out of Lenโ€™s book and start thinking about it in terms of your relationship with spirit. And then the โ€œtomorrowโ€™s for changingโ€ part flowed out in about 10 minutes, and I finished the whole song half an hour later.”

To celebrate the release of the new single, the Hunter Valley-based artist will hit the road for shows in Europe and the United Kingdom before performing a string of shows around Australia ahead of the album’s release.

But before all that, Melody will play a show at The Junkyard in Maitland on 7 August. And if her set at the recent Gum Ball is anything to go by, this is a show no local live music lover will want to miss.
