A fantasy world of dinosaurs, dragons and mythical creatures will take over Hunter Valley Gardens once again when Mega Creatures 2026 roars back to life from 28 March to 27 April.
The popular autumn attraction transforms the gardens into a sprawling outdoor adventure filled with towering animatronic creatures, interactive displays and family-friendly activities designed to captivate visitors of all ages.
“Mega Creatures has become a signature autumn time event for the Hunter region,” Hunter Valley Gardens Marketing Manager Julie Pettit said.
“In 2026, we’ve expanded our fantasy zones and creature installations to deliver even more wow-factor for visitors.”
Mega Creatures at Hunter Valley Gardens continues to grow each year, and has become one of the region’s standout seasonal attractions.

NEW EDITIONS & FAVOURITES
This year’s event expands on previous editions with new themed zones and creature installations, including majestic dragons perched on castle ruins, whimsical unicorns set among meadow landscapes and dazzling flower dragons in the newly expanded Land of Legends precinct.
Returning favourites such as giant animatronic insects and prehistoric dinosaurs will once again roam the gardens, creating a colourful and highly photogenic experience throughout the grounds.
MEGA CREATURES NIGHT SAFARI
On select evenings, the experience takes on a different atmosphere with the Mega Creatures Night Safari, running 28–29 March, 3–19 April and 24–26 April from 5pm to 9:30pm.
The after-dark event lights up the gardens with dramatic displays and illuminated creatures, creating a striking nighttime adventure through the fantasy-themed precincts.
EASTER LONG WEEKEND
The Easter Long Weekend from 3–6 April will bring additional family fun to the event, including Easter egg hunts through the newly created Hoppity Hollow zone.
Visitors will also have the chance to meet the Easter Bunny, adding another festive highlight for families exploring the gardens during the holiday weekend.
MEGA CREATURES AT HUNTER VALLEY GARDENS

Visitors can explore the event during the Mega Creatures Day Session, which runs daily from 9am to 4pm (last entry 3pm).
Amusement rides will operate between 10am and 3:30pm, with attractions including the Venetian Carousel, Tea Cups, Swing Chair, Superslide and Ferris Wheel adding extra thrills for families exploring the gardens.
Tickets for Mega Creatures 2026 are on sale now, with day, night and combo passes available, and accommodation packages offered in partnership with Mercure Hunter Valley Gardens and Harrigan’s Hunter Valley.
