The Impossible Market is a unique and dynamic shopping experience that combines all the elements for a great night out. Taking up residence in the industrial chic West End hotspot The Edwards, the first market night will kick off from 5pm on Sunday 13 September and continue on the second Sunday of each month.
With a focus on showcasing those who have taken a step towards an unknown destination and ended up achieving what they once thought was impossible, the launch event will feature twenty hand-picked creative makers along with live music, a dedicated Market Night food and cocktail menu, and a black and white photo booth with interactive props.
An ever-changing line up of pop-up shops will keep the experience fresh and go hand-in-hand with monthly themes such as the โSpring Marketโ in October, with florals, spring scents and pastel shades; the โMovemeber Marketโ, which will showcase earthy and eco wood, leather, metal and natural luxuries; and Decemberโs โChristmas Marketโ that will likely leave you wanting to keep the stocking fillers for yourself.
UK import, Rebecca Stern, is the driving force behind the Market Night. โThe Impossible is a culmination of my passions, strengths and love for the city Iโve called home for the last four years. After arriving in Newcastle and starting my business House of Bec, I discovered a deep community of makers, designers, artists and creatives who inspired me at every opportunity,โ she said.
Her own business has been a constant step away from the known and into often surprising and unexpected places. She has watched with admiration as those around her take those scary leaps too. โItโs about taking one step at a time without being sure of the destination and then looking back and realising that you have indeed already done what you once thought was impossible. Small and creative business is all about being braver than you thought you could be, taking risks achieving more than you imagined you could in ways you often could not have predicted.โ
The mainstay of The Impossible is a mix of beautifully designed, original, well made, locally produced, earth friendly and passion-instilled products. The venue plays a starring role and is somewhat of an impossible dream-come-true itself. The Edwards is raw and industrial, classy but laid back, hip and on trend but always warm and inviting. It is the love child of owners Chris Joannou and Chris Johnston, who have determinedly dedicated themselves to creating a place that does justice to the vibrant new energy Newcastle is pulsing with.
The Impossible is brave, fresh and exciting. It is about shopping awesome and supporting the magic of makers.
