It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as The Levee gets into the festive spirit

Ding dong merrily on high! The festive season is almost upon us!

And the first signs of the festive season are on display with work commencing on “Christmasing up” the Levy Shared Zone in Maitland for the ever popular Christmas At The Levee.

The area was closed to traffic on Monday to allow Santas elves some time to install decorations in anticipation of the festive celebrations!

It wouldn’t be Christmas without the chance to snap a pic with the jolly man in the red suit himself and from Thursday 26 November until Saturday 19 December, Santa will be posing for FREE socially distanced photos at the Riverlink.

Ecen better, this year will see the use of a new COVID safe QR code signup system meaning that you can sign up and shop while you wait instead of stanfing rin a queue.

Sessions will take place every Thursday (3pm to7pm) and Friday and Saturday (9am to 1pm)

Another Yuletide treat for 2020 is a Christmas Special celebration that will see a laid back evening featuring a selection of fresh local produce, artisan beer, wine and spirits stalls, gift wrapping by donation, roving entertainers and live music to bring some Christmas cheer to the Shared Zone on Thursday 3 December.

Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker said the Levee Christmas festivities were are great way to reconnect with the community after such a challenging year as well as giving local traders much-needed support.

‘It’s been a challenging year for everyone, which makes it even more exciting to be
bringing back an even bigger Christmas program to The Levee this festive season. We hope that the community will get involved by picking up some of their presents from the great mix of local shops in the area,’ she said.”

‘Along with supporting local businesses, this is also a great way to bring the community together at this time of year in a COVID Safe way.”
