DO NOT PASS GO: Maitland Gaol unlocks free tours for locals this summer

Maitland wants to send its residents to gaol this summer… And the good news is you won’t need to commit a crime or pay a cent.

Until the end of January 2022, Maitland Local Government Area residents can bring two or more out of town adult visitors toMaitland Gaol and accompany their guests on one of the popular daytime guided, or self-guided audio, tours for free.

“This is the perfect opportunity for those who have been before to come back and uncover something new and different with their visitors,” Destination Manager Mike Baudinette said.

“There are so many secrets hidden behind the thick walls of Maitland Gaol. Each tour is a distinct, authentic experience.”

Locals can redeem the offer to check out some of the Gaol’s most popular tours and attractions.

You can find out about the site’s historic heroes and villains with the 150 Years Under Lock and Key tour or find out about the most daring and audacious breakout attempts on the Escapes tour.

There are terms and conditions that apply to the offer, so you’ll need photo identification to verify residential address upon entry and “out of town” visitors must prove they reside outside the Maitland Local Government Area.
