Do you have an idea for a post-COVID celebration to end all post-COVID celebrations? Then Maitland Council wants to hear from you.
Council is kicking off its My Place Grants funding program, one of its COVID-19 Response and Recovery initiatives and, before applications open later in the year, they want your ideas and inspiration on how you would like to see Maitland and surrounding suburbs come together to celebrate the eventual resumption of relative normalcy.
The program will offer up to $20,000 per project and you are only limited by your imagination. A suburb versus suburb Olympics, perhaps? Or even a family-friendly community get-together in the local park.
Community collaboration is the order of the day here, with the program aiming to reconnect communities, build networks and create safe and inclusive environments.
“We know that people can’t get out and come together as they would like at the moment, so we’re excited to facilitate the opportunity for suburbs across our community to put on a range of exciting celebrations that encourage social connection once we’re on the other side of the current restrictions,” Mayor of Maitland Loretta Baker said.
“I think what’s really great about this program is that the celebrations will be driven and delivered by the community, and they will be unique to suburbs across our City.
“I can’t wait to see the community collaboration and great ideas that the people of Maitland come up with.”
To have your say, head here before the online ideas and inspiration collection period ends on Sunday 11 October.
