Local artist, talent manager and booking agent, Maeve Grant has been appointed as the first MusicNSW Newcastle Coordinator.

Maeve brings a wealth of experience to her new position from her time on stage and behind the scenes with JC Entertainment and her female-owned and operated independent live music booking agency, Gumnut Artists.

As Newcastle Coordinator, Maeve will be responsible for facilitating professional development events, opportunities, and networking for local industry professionals and artists.

MusicNSW said her appointment, along with the appointment of other new coordinators based in Western Sydney and Wollongong, underscores their commitment to regional music development.

“Growing from an existing team of Regional Coordinators, these new appointments will see MusicNSW further embed our statewide presence with boots on the ground in Newcastle, Wollongong and Western Sydney for the first time in our history,” MusicNSW Managing Director, Joe Muller said.

“Weโ€™ve seen the impact that locally-based coordinators can have on music communities and I have no doubt that the collective knowledge, passion and experience of our incoming team members will be invaluable as they work closely to support artist and industry development in a direct and nuanced way.โ€

Maeve’s job will be to engage directly with artists through one-on-one meetings to identify and address their needs, facilitate professional development and networking events, and connect artists with the resources and support they need to thrive.

Her appointment is part of a greater initiative to ensure that music communities outside the major metropolitan areas receive adequate support.

As a not-for-profit organisation, MusicNSW plays a pivotal role in fostering a sustainable and thriving music community in New South Wales. By focusing on professional development, regional music development, and supporting First Nations artists, MusicNSW ensures that the stories and voices of the people are heard and celebrated.
