Luke Davis’ Desert 5

Luke Davis is well respected guitar player from Newcastle. He’s the next muso to answer the challenge of choosing 5 albums he couldn’t live without for our Desert 5 series.

Originally from Narrabri in New South Wales, Luke can now be found on any given weekend wielding his vast array of guitars and effects for multiple acts around our region including the loveable duo Dr. Zoom. Luke also played lead guitar on his fiancé Kristy James’ debut EP Overdrive which has been extremely well received by fans and industry heavy weights.

Luke’s list features some classic albums and a few hints to what inspires his playing.

BABY ANIMALS – BABY ANIMALS | No explanation needed!

PEARL JAM – TEN | I remember seeing the film clip for Even Flow on Rage when i was about 11 or 12 & i thought it was the coolest thing i’d ever seen or heard

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS – CORE | From the opening track “Dead And Bloated” this band had me

AEROSMITH – PUMP | Once again.. i think i was about 9 years old & i saw “Janie’s got a gun” clip on Rage. I thought Joe Perry was GOD! Great album from start to finish!

THE DARKNESS – PERMISSION TO LAND | Saw these guys at the 2004 Big Day Out. I went straight out & bought the album the next day. These guys were so refreshing and they brought ROCK BACK!!
