The new initiative aims to inspire people to order takeaway or delivery, over the weekend of 29 – 31 May, from local businesses who have been struggling due to COVID-19 trading restrictions.
While many venues have reopened to groups of 10 people or less in line with phase one of the Government’s COVID Safety plans many of our favourite local business are still struggling to sustain their businesses.
“We need to help these venues find a way through these tough times that respects social distancing. Many restaurants will find it a challenge to operate at part capacity, and with no firm date on when things will return to normal, take away and delivery options will be vital in maintaining cash flow,” Taylors’ Winemaker and Managing Director Mitchell Taylor said.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
You can support your favourite local restaurants, cafe, pub or club by purchasing a meal and dining in at home or with friends (whilst respecting social distancing measures) over the weekend of May 29 – 31.
Organisers are also asking that you share an image of your night on social media using the #LocalNightIn hashtag. By doing this you’ll help spread the word that Australia’s local restaurants are still open for business.
FIND THAT PERFECT DELIVERY
Newcastle Live’s Food Delivery page is a great place to start for locals and there’s also a new national database of venues that are providing delivery and takeaway options right across Australia.
