Local veteran burns medals in protest

Many Australians believe we have a moral obligation to help those who helped us by serving alongside Australian defence force personnel in Afghanistan. But this is proving problematic for the Federal Government.

A local Veteran burnt his medals at the office of Newcastle’s Federal MP Sharon Claydon yesterday to protest the treatment of Afghan interpreters whose lives are now in danger, who have been left behind.

How did it feel to be given those medals? Ms Claydon joined Newcastle in the Morning to discuss.
