Local stars set to shine in School of Rock the Musical

When the smash hit musical School of Rock storms into Newcastle this July it will showcase some of the region’s brightest stars.

Led by Hunter Drama Artistic Director, James Chapman, the cast for School of Rock is made up of a talented ensemble direct from Hunter Drama.

Chapman, a seasoned professional actor on both stage and screen, brings his expertise to the hilarious role of Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who takes on the guise of a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.

Joining Chapman on stage are acclaimed adult cast members including Tayla Choice, Nick Langthorne, and Lizzy Lindus, each promising to bring their own flair and experience to the show.

With multiple theatrical awards under their belts, the local ensemble is bound to elevate the famed production to new heights.

“The combination of experienced, professional performers and the amazing rising stars of Hunter Drama creates a creative environment that will not only deliver a great night at the theatre for the audience but also a kind of mentorship for the students,” said Chapman.

“It’s a point of pride for us that our productions are of such a high standard and that our students have these wonderful opportunities to shine and learn from the best. Not only that – but this show is a hell of a lot of fun!”

Hunter Drama’s production of School of Rock is set to stick it to the man at the Civic Theatre Newcastle from the 18th to the 20th of July 2024. For tickets and further information visit civictheatrenewcastle.com.au.
