The lead singer of local country music outfit, The Viper Creek Band has called for a boycott of the Lambton Park Hotel in response to recent changes to its calendar of live country music.
In a message posted to the Appreciation Party For Wardy Facebook group Damien Baguley wrote;
“Maybe the other licensees [of the Lambton Park Hotel] need to be told that the only reason we went to the pub was because of Wardy and the music he put on! Do they realise that without the ‘country music’it’s just another pub with another soloist with backing tracks playing Brown eyed girl in the corner? The same guy that will be playing at the Mark Hotel next week and being ignored by the punters there!
The pub has lost all it’s identity now and it’s only a matter of time before they realise.
Everybody should boycott the venue as of right now!!”

The Facebook group set up to organise “a get together to say thank you to Newcastles main man of country music” has attracted 145 members in the 24 hours it has been live.
We’ll keep you posted on developments as they occur.
UPDATE: The group has been removed from Facebook.
