Frenzal Rhomb have announced a new date for their postponed Newcastle Gig. The band will now play the Cambridge Hotel on Friday, the 18th of September with local drummer Kye Smith behind the drum kit.
Kye is stepping into the role after the band’s drummer, Gordy, sustained a serious arm injury during a show at Perth’s Amplifier Bar.
Gordy took to the band’s Facebook Page to make the announcement yesterday.
“So my arm’s fucked, but we have shows booked. Our buddy Kye Smith’s arm was also fucked, but it’s currently less fucked than mine, so rather than cancel our shows and fuck everyone around, Kye’s gunna fill in on drums!”
Kye, who plays drums in Newcastle-based band, Local Resident Failure, shot to national attention with his “Drum Chronology” series of YouTube videos. Kye has taken on the catalogues of many bands, including Frenzal’s, which you can see below.
