The name Shannon Noll is often used as a punchline, especially online. But you can joke as much as you like because The Australian Idol bridesmaid from Condobolin, has become one of Australia’s music festival favourites. And there’s good reason for that – he’s bloody entertaining!
One of the things we notice when Shannon plays a festival bill, like Live At The Foreshore on 16 March, is the sense of “show us what you’ve got” from the crowd standing up the back.
“Yeah, they don’t know what to expect, do they” Shannon says with a laugh over the phone during our chat.
But one thing’s for certain, by the end of the set, those same people are singing along hugging their mates saying things like “how good is he?”.
“It’s all What About Me” he says.
“No matter how standoffish they might be, that song gets em every time”
But we reckon it’s more than that. Shannon is not only a great vocalist (hardly misses a note live) he’s an entertainer who gives just as much as he gets.
“The band and I put a lot of effort into the entertainment factor, it’s not just about the music. We want to have a good time and we want the crowd to have a good time too”
