SLIPPING AWAY: It’s your last chance to take a slide down Lambton’s iconic attraction before it’s replaced

You’ve got until the end of the April school holidays to take one more slide down the Lambton Swimming Centre spiral waterslide.

The 120-meter long twisting waterslide will be removed this year when the swim centre closes for winter, so work can begin on its replacement.

“The existing waterslide will continue to operate throughout the remainder of the current season, ready for locals to enjoy the new waterslide when the pool reopens for the 2022/23 summer season,” Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said.

Since its installation in 2000, the slide has been a massive drawcard for the Lambton pool with people coming from all over the Hunter for a whirl.

“I encourage local kids, whose parents may have enjoyed climbing up the 9-metre-high tower to splash down the waterslide when it was originally installed in 2000, to take one more slide down the popular attraction before it is replaced,” Councillor Peta Winney-Baartz said.

Its replacement will be installed in the offseason and use the supporting infrastructure of the current slide.
