Lake Macquarie set to host an intensive stand-up workshop

Aspiring comedians are set to converge on Lake Macquarie later this month for a two-day workshop aimed at honing the craft of stand-up comedy.

Led by seasoned comedians Mandy Nolan and George Catsi, the two-day workshop promises an intensive journey into the world of comedy writing and performance.

With a combined experience of nearly four decades in the comedy scene, the pair bring a wealth of expertise to the table.

Nolan, recognized as Australia’s ‘funniest non-famous comedian’ by Wil Anderson, boasts an impressive resume that includes accolades such as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Moosehead Award for new work. Having headlined prestigious events like the MICF Roadshow and the Sydney Comedy Festival Roadshow, Nolan’s influence extends beyond the stage as she has mentored prominent figures like Emmy Winner Hannah Gadsby, National RAW winner Alexandra Hudson, and finalist Ellen Briggs.

Joining Nolan is George Catsi, a multifaceted talent renowned as a national AWGIE award-winning performance writer, performer, academic, and creative producer. As an academic, Catsi imparts his knowledge at UTS and JMC in Sydney, focusing on animation and the Creative Industries Masters program.

The workshop, part of the annual Write Here Festival, will also see participants develop a 5-minute comedy routine which will be performed on the final day at Warners Bay Theatre

The Stand Up for Yourself workshop is happening over two days from Thursday, 16 May. For more information visit lakemac.com.au/Events.
