Everything you need to know about Lake Mac Carols by Candlelight this weekend

Double-vaccinated, checked in and ready to carol punters will take their position on the grass with their families at Speers Point Park in Lake Macquarie this Sunday, for a star-studded lineup of candlelit entertainment.

Award-winning country music singer Kirsty Lee Akers will headline the star-studded Lake Mac Carols by Candlelight event which also features former Hi-5 performer Tim Harding, former The Voice contestant Kylie Jane, RnB singer Komiti and veteran local singer Terrance Wakewood.

Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said the size of Speers Point Park meant it could operate at normal capacity.

“It’s so exciting to be hosting events in Lake Mac once again,” Ms Hemsley said.

“Carols by Candlelight at Speers Point Park is a festive tradition for families right across the Hunter Region, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic evening of fun and entertainment.”

The Lake Mac Ferry will also be testing the waters before its official launch on 1 January operating a return service from Belmont and Toronto to Speers Point especially for the event.

Families who want to jump on the Ferry service will need to book via

Lake Mac’s new Multi-Arts Pavilion will also be on show acting as a second stage for the event, hosting local musicians Chloe Gill, Honey Duo and Matt Cross.

Homegrown Markets will also be hosting a festively themed boutique market with food trucks offering a range of cuisines throughout the event too.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the event had long been a favourite on the city’s social calendar.

“I can’t wait to get out there on Sunday and see thousands of smiling faces,” Cr Fraser said.

“After what we’ve all been through this year and last, it’s a great opportunity to get together and celebrate the festive spirit.”

The Lake Mac Carols event kicks off at 3:00 pm on Sunday, 12 December and runs until 9:00 pm.
