IT’S KNIGHT TIME: Newcastle’s favourite footy podcast joins the family

Knight Time, the show dedicated to all things Newcastle Knights and rugby league, is joining the Newcastle Live Radio family.

Hosted by football fanatic Dean ‘Smita’ Smith, the show covers all the hard-hitting issues coming out of the National Rugby League and the Knight’s camp with a good dose of footy humour thrown into the mix.

“Our show is for the fans, by the fans,” Dean says.

“It’s three normal everyday guys talking about the one thing they’re most passionate about – the Newcastle Knights,”

“Myself, Andrew ‘Andy’ Nichols and Jono Fren are the main hosts and there’s the occasional appearance of Kylie ‘Crazy Lady’ Smith and Sharon ‘Cranky Lady’ Nichols too”.

Dean says his love of the game, and specifically, the Knights goes right back to his childhood.

“I saw my first game in 1988 when I was 8 years old. My Aunty worked for the Knights and she would take me to games when she could,”

“Local Broadcasting legend Gary Harley and his wife Sue and good friends of my family and also had a huge part in me loving the Knights, Gary would take me into the dressing sheds where I met one of my all-time favourites, Paul ‘Chief’ Harragon”.

Tracy Mac caught up with Dean on Newcastle In The Morning to find out more about the show and what you can expect to hear when it streams on Newcastle Live Radio on Wednesday nights from 6pm. Listen back below.
