If your household is anything like ours, then the person who has the most items under the tree each year is the furry friend.
So we’re always looking for new toys to help keep the ruler of the house stimulated and entertained so that they, hopefully, tire of digging up our garden, eating our furniture or just wreaking general havoc around the house.
Enter Kmart and our top picks of stocking fillers for your tail-wagger.
Before we begin, we’d like to point out some warnings that Kmart has on their website.
When browsing for pet toys remember that no pet toy is indestructible and don’t forget to choose toys that reflect your petโs play style.
Follow usage instructions carefully – just like dog toys, your pet is not indestructible and you should make sure to monitor the way that you and your pet interact with toys during playtime.
Squeak Pig

An absolute classic even though you’ll probably think it will never be touched. But we’re here to tell you that itโs definitely the olโ reliable when it comes to playtime – especially if you need to get your dog’s attention.
BONUS: That squeak cannot be ignored!
Water Play Floating Croc / Turtle

For some reason, our pup adores these toys and they go perfectly with our shell pool. They seem to be tastier and more enjoyable once theyโve been left out in the elements longer than they should be. These toys are awesome for fetch, super chewy and have a high-pitched squeak. Obviously irresistible.
SIDENOTE: Who designed the crocodile’s eyes?
Rope Sausage Hot Dog

This right here is the golden child of dog toys because of all the different features in one compact little toy. Thereโs a squeaker, a durable bit of rope that will probably get chewed off eventually but itโs still nice and soft.
PROTIP: Not to be confused with Rope Sausage.
Plush Butterfly

This one is a bit of a dark horse. Itโs good for cuddling and has rope antennas which are perfect for your pup to drag around or play tug-of-war with and the wings make a crinkle sound!
INCENTIVE: Never underestimate the effect that a good crinkle sound will have on your pooch.
Plush Long Flamingo

This one made the list because of how great they are for tug-of-war. It can also be used as a weapon for your pup to hit you with. Basically, get them something long and a little more substantial in weight and they will have a ball – pun intended.
BUYERS NOTE: A Long Ball Caterpillar that is just far enough from resembling a long-knotted Shrek will also do the trick.
Puppy Ring

This gets an honourable mention and is one grab for those of us that have petite dogs or puppies. Itโs perfect for that teething stage.
BEWARE: Make sure that your playtime with this toy isnโt too rough! Your dog’s pearly whites are something not to be messed with and need to be taken care of.
