Kelly Hansen knows only too well the devastating impact of domestic violence on the women of the Hunter.
As CEO of Nova for Women and Children, a homelessness and domestic violence service, she sees the harsh realities daily.
Listen below, as Kelly opens up about the housing crisis, the lack of refuges available to vulnerable women, and her trip to Canberra this week where she, along with a contingent of representatives from local domestic violence and women’s organisations, displayed 150 white dresses on the lawn of Parliament House before delivering them to the Federal Government.
The dresses were symbolic of the 150 women who have lost their lives to gendered violence in this country since 2016.
