RIDE ALONG: Joel Humphreys, Earp Distilling Co & Dirt Candy Wine join forces for a progressive lunch with a difference

You’ll be bumping tyres with some of the best in our local culinary scene when the Ride Along Progressive Lunch rolls along the streets of Newcastle in May.

Hosted by ex-Rockpool chef and the mastermind behind local institutions Scotties & Lost Boys Kebabs, Joel Humphreys, the progressive lunch will see foodies riding between Nobby’s Beach and The Cambridge Hotel stopping along the way for some amazing culinary experiences.

The unique event offers a great chance to get to know the people behind the food, as they will be riding right along beside you.

Local winemaker, Daniel Payne from Dirt Candy Wines will be pouring wine at each stop with Cameron Burns from Earp Distilling Co serving a gin cocktail created especially for the event. Ticket holders will have the option to bring their own bikes or use one of Newy Rides bikes.

Founder of Newy Rides, Ben Ogden, says that The Ride Along series of one-off, bespoke events offers a unique ‘Meet-the-Maker’ experience whilst showcasing our amazing city.

“I’ve invited some great Newy producers along for the ride to really enhance the experience and showcase the best products in the region,” said Ben.

“The Ride Along Series allows guests to peel back a layer of various Newcastle identities, getting a behind-the-scenes look at how their mind works by showcasing their wares, interacting with you along the way.”

The menu features an amuse-bouche, wine pairing from Dirty Candy, an Earp Distilling Co cocktail, and finishes with a main and dessert from Lost Boys Kebabs. The ride will take in the Civic Art Precinct, the Carrington Pub Scene and a secret location by the sea.
