Country singer / song writer Jess Holland held her ‘Whole Lot To Say’ album preview party on Wednesday night at Lizotte’s Newcastle; I love this venue great ambiance, sound and lighting, a real asset to Newcastle’s live music scene.

Tamworth’s Allison Forbes kicked the night off with a fantastic set, this was the first chance I’ve had to catch Allison and she most definitely has a new fan in me. One of my long time favourites, Good Corn Liquor were up next with a foot stomping set of originals that had the crowd well and truly warmed up for Jess.

Jess Holland hit the stage next. When Jess’s band walked on stage I knew we were in for a pretty special night, with a band including the likes of Sue Carson, Matt Gaudry, Robbie Long and Allison Forbes, as well as a hot rhythm section with Brad Rheinberger – Drums and Jarrod Gibson – Bass, you know it’s going to be very good.

Seeing Jess Holland live was another first for me and man was I impressed, Jess has a great stage presence and a powerful voice that demands that you sit up and take notice. She played the album in almost its entirety, with the exception of ‘This Ol Guitar’.

I grabbed a copy of ‘Whole Lot To Say’ on the night and love it. Fourteen well written tracks superbly mixed and produced by Newcastle’s Robbie Long (Funky Lizard Studios). My favourite tracks are the haunting ‘Hell Bent For Leather’ and ‘Wasn’t Alone’. If you’re a lover of good Country Rock this album is a must for your collection.

‘Whole Lot To Say’ is available on iTunes and if you like a real copy www.jessholland.com.au.
