Saturday in Newcastle saw a homecoming for one of the city’s most successful musical outfits when Dave Gleeson fronted The Screaming Jets at Newcastle Racecourse.
The course was packed for the Hunter Race Day event and the finale of the day was a concert from one of Newy’s favourites in front of a heaving crowd. And Newcastle Live was there to capture a classic Newy moment.
The band kicked off with the thunderous C’mon and then rocked through all the classics including Helping Hand, Shiver, Stop The World, Shine On, Eve Of Destruction, Needle as well as a couple of tracks from their new album Professional Misconduct.
The packed crowd were right into it and were heard singing along at volume.
Here’s just one highlight from the epic show with the boys delivering their smash hit Better and Gleeson thumping his chest in heartfelt appreciation of the audience’s grand sing-a-long moment. With local boy Paul Elliott filling in admirably for the late Paul Woseen, it was a show for the ages and one that every person present will remember for years to come.
