Social distancing, lock-downs, empty supermarket shelves…
If we are going to need to get used to this whole social-isolation idea why not make the very best of it! And why not support two stellar local businesses while we are it.
What we are thinking about here is marrying two of our favourite things. Wine and Cheese. Yes please. A quick trip to two top-notch local Newcastle suburbs is all you really need to bring this matrimony to life.
We got an email today from our friends at Pork Ewe Deli in Mayfield about their awesome new delivery and kerbside collection services and we are excited. Think cheese, cured meats, local produce, grocery items and just generally damn delicious treats delivered around Newcastle on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Pork Ewe Deli also wanted to let everyone know that they are doing their best to support local producers – bakers, farmers, dairies, butchers and the like during these crazy times.
Ok. We’ve got the food sorted but now for the beverages. This is where Rob from Inner City Winemakers comes in. Inner City Winemakers is located in Church Street, Wickham. These guys produce some seriously delicious white, sparkling and red wine (plus a crackin’ Port of Newcastle Vintage Fortified). Some of our personal favourites are the Fume Blanc and the Sangiovese but honestly, they are all great.
And we are confident that they will all be well matched with your couch side cheese plate – bringing a much needed smile to your dial.
Pork Ewe Deli is located at 144 Maitland Road, Mayfield.
