Get ready to roll up your sleeves, Lake Macquarie. It’s time to get cleaning.
This Sunday 9 August, the Lake Macquarie Sustainable Neighbourhoods Alliance will be hosting a city-wide cleanup and is encouraging all residents to do their bit.
The initiative is part of Lake Macquarie Council’s Eco Angel program which aims to assist schools, community groups, businesses and individuals in keeping the LGA spick and span.
The event will be run across five sites across Lake Macquarie – Charlestown-Whitebridge, Pelican, Rathmines, Speers Point-Boolaroo, and Toronto with registrations capped at 20 people per side in keeping with current COVID-19 regulations.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the city-wide clean up was a great way for residents to do their bit in reducing litter and plastics throughout the city, adding that she too will be doing her bit on the day.
“The Eco Angel program is a great way to inspire residents of all ages to help provide clean and healthy public places throughout the City,” Cr Fraser said.
Each site will follow COVID-safe practices, with numbers limited to 20 people per site. Physical distancing and hygiene requirements will be strictly adhered to at all sites and participants are encouraged to stay home if they are feeling unwell.
Also, don’t forget to wear enclosed shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, gloves and a water bottle.
