When it comes to combos, the Australian pub and the humble chicken schnitzel are right up there with the best of them.
And with our favourite watering holes still doing it incredibly tough in the wake of COVID-19 we all want to do what we can to help, right?
Well, chook fanciers from across Newcastle and the Hunter are being asked to order the iconic dish for dinner in a bid to create the Hunter’s Biggest ‘Schnit Night In’.
The campaign, driven by the Australian Hotel’s Association (AHA) Newcastle – Hunter is a simple initiative that will allow people to support their local pub by joining together on Tuesday 19 May and ordering a delicious takeaway schnitty for dinner.
Diners also are encouraged to snap a pic and upload it to Instagram with the hashtag #SchnitNightIn.
Since the pandemic began and pubs were forced to close their doors, one of the most popular takeaway meal items has been the chicken schnitzel with some pubs selling out night after night.
“For the past few months, our local pubs have been working overtime thinking up new ways to serve customers and stay engaged with their communities,” AHA Newcastle Hunter President Rolly de With said.
“Take-away, delivery, and drive-through meals have provided one way for venues to operate, but make no mistake, these are unprecedented and challenging times.
“We know people out there want to show their support for local pubs and we also know the most popular take-away meal right now is the good old schnitty, so why not combine the two?”
More than 50 pubs across Newcastle and the Hunter, such as The Blackbutt, Seven Seas and The Kent, meaning you will be spoiled for choice when picking the perfect schnit!
