You know the festive season has begun when Hunter Valley Gardens’ Christmas Lights Spectacular kicks off.
The Southern Hemisphere’s largest light display is set to dazzle visitors from now until 26 January 2025, with an enchanting showcase of over 4 million lights.
This year’s Christmas Lights Spectacular is shaping up to be the best one yet with a breathtaking display spread across 8 acres, featuring millions of sparkling lights, themed zones, live performances, and rides.
Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this magical annual in the Hunter.
WHEN & WHERE
The Christmas Lights Spectacular will take place at Hunter Valley Gardens, conveniently located just 2.5 hours from Sydney and under an hour from Newcastle.
The event runs from now until 26 January 2025. The lights are on every night from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM, with the last entry at 9:30 PM. Rides will be going from 6 PM to 10 PM, with the final rides taking off at 9:45 PM.
THEMED ZONES
As you wander through the gardens, be prepared to enter a new world at every corner with themed event zones such as Rocking Reindeers, Toyland, Festive Shores, Up Up & Away
Candyland, Fairyland, 12 Days of Christmas, Winter Wonderland and Christmas World.
#PROTIP: Don’t miss the brand new 13-metre tall Christmas tree and the whimsical Mr. & Mrs. Claus installations at the Big Red Chair for some fantastic photo opportunities!
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT & RIDES
On top of all the stunning lights, Hunter Valley Gardens’ Christmas Lights Spectacular features an exciting lineup of live performances with roving comedy and magic, a lively kids’ Christmas stage show in November and December, followed by a fun-filled Pirate stage show in January.
Thrill-seekers will love the selection of amusement rides on offer including a daring 35-metre Superslide, a relaxing Ferris Wheel, the classic Swing Chair, a traditional Venetian Carousel and, as tradition calls for, some tun spinning teacups!
MEET SANTA
The big man in the red suit will also be there! Families can capture a special moment with Santa Claus until December 24 for an additional fee. It’s a perfect opportunity for a festive family photo!
FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD
With all the excitement, you’re bound to work up a bit of an appetite! This is lucky because gardens feature a wide array of food options to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. From wood-fired pizza and burgers to loaded fries and samosas, there’s something for everyone. There’s also mango lassi, bubble tea, slushies, sweet treats, doughnuts, gelato, and ice cream cups drizzled with Belgian chocolate. Yes, please.
