HUNGRY? Cessnock’s Burgerfiend to host eating competition

Cessnock-based eatery Burgerfiend certainly knows how to fill stomachs.

So much so that the popular Cooper Street spot is holding an eating competition that is sure to draw cast-iron stomachs from far and wide.

The competition, which is slated to run on April 5, in conjuntion with the Cessnock Stomp festival, will pit the Hunters best eaters against some true mountains of food across two categories – Hulk (2kg meal) and Banner (1.6kg meal).

Slowpokes are put on notice, too because both categories have a 20-minute time limit attached.

Also, while bragging rights are on offer to the winners of each category, they will also take home a cash prize of $500 (Hulk) and $250 (banner0 presumably to put towards more burgers.

If you haven’t ventured up to the ‘nock to sample Burgerfiend’s wares, you’re doing yourself a disservice as the burgs coming out of this kitchen, run by burger boffins Matt and Marlene Fulham, are some of the best to be found anywhere in the Hunter Valley.

So much so that, this month, Burgerfiend picked up an Australian Good Food Guide reader’s choice award for the best burgers in the Hunter Valley – for the second year running!

So, if you think you’ve got what it takes, head over to the Burgerfiend website download the entry form and return it by no later than Friday 31 January.

Competitors will be announced on Tuesday 18 Feb. Spots are strictly limited for both categories so….GET IN QUICK!
