Local musician and worlds biggest Barry Gibb fan, Connor Wink is just like many other talented 17-year-old musicians, except he’s totally blind. Connor doesn’t let that get in the way though, spending many hours a week playing sets all over town, most in aid of charity, and picking up a legion of fans along the way.
When Connor’s Mum, Tracey found out that Barry Gibb would be playing a show in Sydney next year, she set about finding a way to make sure Connor would get to meet his hero.
You can read her letter below.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m writing to you about my son Connor. He is 17 years old and TOTALLY BLIND. I have just purchased tickets to see Barry Gibb in Sydney in April. The Bee Gees have been a huge part of Connors life. I took Connor to the Mythology Tour as well. He does a lot of charity work by busking, singing a lot of Bee Gees every weekend and donating the proceeds to Variety The Children’s Charity as well as other charities raising well over $25,000 in the last 3 years. It has always been Connor’s dream to meet Barry or better yet, sing with him. Connor works so hard for others and doesn’t ask for anything in return. I see so many Stars giving children Life Altering Experiences. It would be so amazing if you could make this happen for him as he’s not eligible for Make A Wish Foundation because he was born Blind and it’s not a life threatening condition. Please help make this dream a reality. I’ve attached the following garage band audio that Connor recorded in his bedroom.
I look forward to your response.
