HEARTFELT HAMPERS: Harper & Lulu makes local produce sing!

In 2019, never has supporting local small business been more important – especially in regional areas affected by drought and bushfires.

This fact is not lost on Laura Lewis who for the past five years has been singing the praises of small-scale producers through her business Harper & Lulu.

Established in 2014 as a soy candle company, Harper and Lulu have since expanded to offer a wide range of gift hampers literally chock a block full of some of the Hunter Valley’s best produce.

“We have got so many great producers, and top-quality products in the Hunter Valley,” Laura told Newcastle Live.

“What we do is put these great products together, deliver them to people’s door and showcase the great products that can be found right in our backyard.”

Aside from the eclectic range of hampers on offer on the Harper & Lulu website, Laura added that she was also more than happy to create bespoke hampers.

“I just really like to help people out,” Laura said. “We don’t just make the hampers that are on our website, we also make custom hampers to suit the type of person that is receiving it or a particular budget the gift giver has in mind.”

Laura said that the popularity of her hampers had grown exponentially over the past five years – starting out with just two in the range and expanding to over 15.

“It just keeps growing,” Laura said. “There are some more hampers that I am keen to add in the new year so, it never ends!”

Aside from Laura’s handmade soy candles, soy wax melts, reed diffusers and Tasmanian oak chopping boards (which can be etched with company logos) Harper & Lulu sources its products from such local businesses as Cocoa Nib, Urban Hum, Murray’s Brewery, Sprocket Roasters, and Lewis Estate Wines.
