Have you seen Newcastle from above? This video of Newcastle’s coastline shot from a drone caught our eye this week. It was shot buy local Novocastrian, Ryan Sneddon. We had a quick chat with Ryan about the video and he graciously allowed us to share it with you guys. We think you’ll love it.
NL: Youโre new to drone photography. What made you want to buy one?
RYAN: Yeah, I’ve only had the drone for a couple of weeks now. I wanted to get one for a bit of fun and to get some aerial shots of some of my products (yoga mats) that are a bit awkward to photograph with a standard camera.
NL: What sort of drone did you buy?
RYAN: I went for the DJI Phantom 3 Professional.
NL: Tell us about the camera attached.
RYAN: The camera that comes with it is essentially the DJI equivalent of the GoPro Hero 4 Black as it has a very similar sensor that shoots in 4K and stills around 12MP.
NL: We loved the edit you did and the music you chose. Tell us about the track.
RYAN: Cheers guys! The track I cut with it was “No One (feat. Thelma Plum)” by Sydney producer Golden Features. I started with the part of the song with the lyrics repeating “It’s getting higher” because drones go up. Get higher. You get it. Magic.
NL: Whats the next thing youโd like to shoot with your drone.
RYAN: I’m hoping to get some more surf footage from around the local beaches but I also want to take it out to ‘The Spit’ at Fingal Bay and a few other spots around Port Stephens.
