HARBOUR SWELL: Surfing Nobbys Breakwall

We reckon Newcastle Harbour would have to be one of the most unique places to surf in the whole world. And from what we hear, it’s not for the fainthearted.

The waves only break there a few times a year – usually when other local beaches are unsurfable. Local’s who’ve been brave enough to surf the harbour tell us you need to keep your wits about you. There are all sorts of hazards to look out for, not to mention the rocks on the breakwall where onlookers gather to watch on.

But last week’s conditions were perfect in the harbour and many local board riders rose to the challenge.
