This month, Newcastle’s beloved vegetarian fast food outlet, Vego’s, is celebrating its fifth birthday!
Since Mark Hughes opened the store on the corner of Maitland Road and Beaumont Street in Islington in 2019, Vego’s has gained a dedicated following for its plant-based offerings, becoming a staple in the local food scene.
One of the most loved items on Vego’s menu is its vegan burrito, which has achieved almost cult status in Newcastle.
In 2022, the brand took a significant step forward, opening a second outlet in Charlestown, bringing its unique plant-based flavours to the Lake Macquarie area.
As part of its fifth-anniversary celebrations, Vego’s is launching new burgers and wraps throughout October, including the return of a fan favourite—the Big V, featuring a house-made beef-style patty.
The popular FLG (Finger Lickin’ Great) Burger has also been revamped with a new chicken-style patty.
