For the past 30 years, Peter Mullen and the team at Mullen Natural Health Centre have been harnessing the power of complementary medicine to improve the lives of Novocastrians.
Now with its latest addition, The Herb Bar, Mullen Natural Health Centre is giving more people the chance to discover what Naturopathy is all about and how it can improve their daily lives.
Speaking to Newcastle Live, Peter Mullen said that the Herb Bar was essentially a holistic apothecary that allows people to ‘dip their toe’ into the world of complementary medicine.
“People are welcome to drop in Monday through Friday between 8am and 1pm or Saturday between 9am and 1pm and a qualified Naturopath will be on hand ready to assist with free advice and the best quality natural supplements and herbal medicines.,” Peter said.
He added: “The Herb Bar is the first of its kind in the Hunter region which is really exciting.
“It’s about making natural medicines easily accessible to everyone and educating people on how they can be incorporated into daily life to improve overall wellbeing.”
Continuing Peter’s commitment to offering a holistic approach to health, the Herb Bar gives people, either looking for a quick remedy or with more complex conditions, the chance to have a quick, 10-minute consult with a qualified naturopath who can steer you in the right direction.
Oh, and the best part? No appointment is necessary!
Peter added that virtually everyone can benefit from a trip to the Herb Bar, with their top-quality supplements and herbs able to assist with the likes of sleep issues, low energy, cold and flu, anxiety, skin conditions, and children’s health.
“Things like urinary tract infections or classic things like anxiety and insomnia can be treated really well with herbs,” Peter said.
“People get an improvement in a week to two weeks time where they might have been struggling for months.”
The Herb Bar is backed up by 30 years of experience and Peter said that during his time as a practicing Naturopath here in Newcastle, the health landscape has changed dramatically. In fact, it’s kind of come full circle.
“We are trying to educate people more about what you can do to help yourself first.,” Peter said.
“A bit like healthcare used to be when we were kids – if you were sick your mother gave you flat lemonade – you didn’t go to the doctors to get antibiotic after antibiotic and to be fair we didn’t get sick as much as kids do today.
“People are starting to get back to what I think of as common sense medicine – try something natural first, try changing your diet first, try exercising more, getting to bed earlier, doing all of those lifestyle things first and then if still struggling maybe add in medication on top of that.”
