If you’re a fan of winning cash with minimal effort, it seems that Edgeworth Newsagency is the place to do it.
“We’ve owned the store for 18 months now and in that time we’ve sold three top prize-winning tickets,” Edgeworth Newsagency owners Jo and Kate Atkinson said.
“We absolutely love seeing locals win these life-changing prizes. It’s a great feeling!”
The third top prize-winning ticket was sold at the newsagency this week with an anonymous Edgeworth resident snagging $150,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket – a $10 Jumbo Crossword scratchie to be precise.
“It was a bit of shock! It felt surreal,” the unnamed resident said of the serendipitous windfall.
“I’m a regular player but I’ve never won anything like this, usually it’s $20 or $50 here and there. It’s a once in a lifetime thing, so I;m enjoying every moment of it.”
The if winner added that the first order of business was to grab a new set of wheels.
“I think I’m going to buy myself a new car,” he declared. “It’s something I’ve wanted for a really long time!
“Then with the rest, I’m going to treat myself to lots of nice things.”
This writer usually meets this kind of news with a sense of low-key derision and jealously, despite the fact that I rarely throw my hat in the ring, I’ve only got myself to blame – you’ve gotta be in it to win it and all that.
So, congrats, unnamed Edgeworth man. Oh, and can I borrow twenty bucks?
