The Hunter Transplant Research Foundation Glow Walk is back for 2022 raising funds for local transplant patients.
Friends and families are invited to register for the two-kilometre walk along Nobbys Beach and the Breakwall.
Event founder and organiser Alison Brown is a transplant recipient who received a lifesaving kidney transplant at John Hunter Hospital 21 years ago.
“I went into premature labour with my second son and when I was in hospital, they discovered that I was in the final stages of renal failure. They informed me that I had a choice of three options; dialysis, transplant or death. I had two kids โ a two-year-old and a premmie baby in NICU who both needed their mum โ so I chose dialysis with a view to hopefully receiving a lifesaving transplant,” Alison Said.
“Eleven months after delivering my baby boy, I had a kidney transplant that has meant my boys grew up with a healthy mum.”
The HTRF Glow Walk, in collaboration with Hunter Medical Research Institute, is happening on Saturday, 24 September 2022. Visit hmri.org.au/events/ to find out more.
