The global Irish dance phenomenon, A Taste of Ireland, is heading to Newcastle in September.

Direct from Off-Broadway and London’s West End, the internationally acclaimed production brings together former World Irish dance champions and performers from iconic shows including Lord of the Dance, Riverdance and the West End hit Éireann.

If you’ve never heard of it before, here’s the lowdown. This show is a high-energy celebration of Irish culture which blends traditional storytelling with contemporary performance.

It’s a full-scale theatrical experience, with live singing and dancing, melodic folk mash-ups and jaw-dropping acapella tap battles.

The whole thing is wrapped up in that distinctly Irish sense of humour and songs like Danny Boy, Tell Me Ma and The Wild Rover, which are all given a fresh, contemporary edge. It’s a performance that balances cultural tradition with modern flair, delivering what the company describes as “craic galore.

A Taste of Ireland will take over Civic Theatre Newcastle on Sunday, 6 September 2026. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit civictheatrenewcastle.com.au.
